About Us
A Place to Shine
The Ladybug Playhouse Nursery School prides itself in creating a safe, nurturing and caring environment in which our students get the tools and support they need for their healthy development. All activities are carefully designed to adequately nurture the emotional, intellectual and physical growth of our children. Through play, stimulating situations, STEAM skills and concepts and hands-on learning opportunities, children are free to develop into bright young minds.
We service all families in the North Shore Communities including but not limited to Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Roslyn, Old Brookville, Locust Valley and more.

Our Staff
Our staff is comprised of highly qualified early childhood educators who strive for excellence. Caring, nurturing, warm and well versed in early childhood development, our teachers believe that children thrive in an environment which values their own uniqueness, while providing support and opportunities to grow emotionally, socially, creatively and intellectually. By building on each child’s strengths, interests and curiosities, we guide each child to explore the world around them as well as develop new abilities and form close relationships. Our class sizes are small. Comprised of low teacher to child ratios which allows the teachers the flexibility to individualize instruction to meet each child's specific interests and needs.

Meet the Director
Andrea Costa-Rothstock
As the owner and Director of the Ladybug Playhouse, I am passionate about education and the well being of our children. I take pride in seeing all the happy little faces come through the door everyday. My goal is to provide each child with a safe, nurturing and caring environment that is innovative and current with the National and State Standards for Early Childhood Education. I am a New York State Certified (Birth-6th grade) teacher with a Masters Degree in Literacy. As a previous teacher at the elementary school level, I know how important early childhood education is in developing the love of learning at an early age. Here at the Ladybug Playhouse we cultivate an environment that encourages individual growth and celebrates diversity.
Home/School Connection
Here at Ladybug we love keeping our parents updated all day long. We use an app called "himama". This app gives the parents access to their child's daily activities, real time photos and SMS text updates as well as an end of day daily report outlining, meals, potty/diapering events, activities and more. It is also a great way to communicate with your child's teacher!
Safety & Security
The safety and security of our students is our top priority. There is only one way into the building with a locked interior door leading to the center space. No one can enter through that door without being let in. We have multiple exits in case of an emergency that are not accessible from the outside. There are also cameras throughout the facility including our huge outdoor play space. We follow New York State Office of Child & Family Services regulations with our staff qualifications which mandates fingerprinting and background checks for all staff members and volunteers.
All staff members are CPR & First Aide certified
